As of July 8, 2021, Massachusetts is accepting employers’ applications to reimburse their costs in granting emergency paid sick leave. The COVID-19 Emergency Paid Sick Leave Program is in effect from May 28, 2021 – September 30, 2021, and requires employers to grant employees paid leave for COVID-related sickness, quarantine, and vaccination. In order to be reimbursed, employers must apply to the state, and provide information regarding the employee’s sick leave. The application will close September 30, 2021 or when the $75 million in program funds have been exhausted.
Employers can access the application now at the Department of Revenue’s MassTaxConnect website.
